Version 1 of the Domainer's Edge (www.domainersedge.com) - a well-known website for domain name investors, letting them find expiring and expired domain names along with information and tools for profiting in the domain name investment market.
Version 1's intention was to select the best domain names. The system retrieves and processes information about the following categories of the domain names:
a) "expiring soon" / "dropping soon" domain names,
b) names from popular auctions,
c) dictionary words-based names,
d) valuable domain names - those having the remaining traffic after they drop - full scan of Yahoo, Google, Overture, and Alexa ratings.
At run time the system processes around 300,000 domain names per day. Maximum capacity - around 500,000 a day.
Back-end: Linux platform, multiple scanner scripts developed on Perl, C, and Java.
Database: MySQL, optimized to support data operations with millions and millions of records.
Front-end: MS Windows, ASP.NET / C#
